This year we are excited to have made two grants to two applicants, providing assistance for insulin pumps and supplies.

Updated: Oct 2

This year, we are fulfilling our goal of making a difference in our community.  We are so pleased to announce that our grass roots movement with Endocrinologists and their team has worked. We distributed more applications, revamped our website and modified the income requirements.

Drum roll please!...  This year we are excited to have made two grants to two applicants, providing assistance for insulin pumps and/or supplies.

We welcomed our first grant recipient in April.  The parents of this 2-year-old have been waiting 1.5 years for this moment. Their ‘Tiny Tot’ got an Omnipod insulin pump and “Closed Loop System”. Though it takes up most of her arm, the technology is amazing! They did have an adjustment period, getting used to everything. But this was such a big step for her and controlling her diabetes with less needles & test strips!  After getting the new supplies, supported by the Do Rights, their 2-year-old went from “out of control blood sugars” to a 7.1 A1C.  This is huge progress for this baby.  She is living a much desired ‘normal life’ (Our Family’s similarity? Our first recipient, and Daniel both got pumps at 2 years old.)

In October, we added our second grant recipient.  This mom, who is a diabetic and assistant for an endocrinologist and a Nurse Practitioner/ Diabetes Educator, discovered in August that her daughter was severely bullied at school by students and teachers. Her daughter was hit several times by students.  So, in August before her daughter went to 6th grade, this mom chose to sacrifice, and quit her job for her daughter.  This mom said she could really use the grant money to assist with paying for her Omnipod and Dexcom supplies, and insulin. Her daughter knows her mom walked away from her job because she loved her and wanted nothing but the best for her. Her daughter is now being home schooled, and she constantly reminds her mom that she enjoys having her home.  She’s now in a safe and secure learning environment. (Our Family’s similarity? Our second recipient and Linda both left their jobs so they could take care of their children and to provide a better future.)

We thank you all for allowing our Do Rights Inc. Foundation, to make a difference in our local community.
